Mitel is integrating Vidyo Inc.’s HD video and telepresence technology into its voice and collaboration platforms.
That means immersive conferencing will be a click away for Mitel’s unified communications and collaborations (UC&C) users, who include people on smartphones, tablets, laptops, desktops and in-room systems, across all networks, the companies said.
"Video is a game-changer for business communications," said Ron Wellard, executive vice president and general manager of Mitel Communications. But, he said, "getting video to actually work within the organization and especially across other media…has been a challenge."
Putting Vidyo’s open-standards technology into Mitel’s MiCollab and MiVoice products solves the problem, Mitel and Vidyo said.
Mitel’s channel partners around the world are able to sell the integrated UC&C video conferencing platform, which also is available via the cloud through MiCloud as a Service in the United States.
