Windstream‘s business and residential customers are starting to get back online after an outage knocked out service to tens of thousands in the Louisville, Ky., area on Wednesday.
Customers started to report the problem at about 5 a.m. ET after “something cut the fiber [and] did quite a bit of damage,” Scott Morris, a Windstream senior consultant, told Business First.
Nearly 47,000 broadband customers were impacted by the cables being cut, which was pinpointed to an area downtown. Among the businesses affected were an accounting firm, a commercial real-estate business and one of the city’s largest car dealerships.
No word yet on the circumstances surrounding the cut fiber.
