Large Companies See Big Value in Cloud Collaboration

There’s a new study out that highlights the value of cloud collaboration.

Forbes Insights, a division of Forbes magazine, recently surveyed more than 500 executives worldwide for a Cisco-sponsored study called “Collaborating in the Cloud.” More and more, businesses with sales ranging from $250 million to more than $20 billion recognize that the ability to collaborate in the cloud offers competitive advantage, said Bruce Rogers, chief insights officer at Forbes Media.

“Leading companies are doing more to foster cloud-based collaboration not only internally, but also with an ever-wider swath of external groups including customers, suppliers, partners and even regulators,” he said.

That’s because the companies see benefits including greater efficiency, dexterity and innovation as a result of cloud collaboration, the study found.

To those points, the survey found the following:

  • More than half (64 percent) of respondents say cloud collaboration helps their businesses executive faster than would otherwise be possible. That figure jumps to 82 percent among executives, including CEOs, CIOs, CTOs, CFOs, IT vice presidents and others.
  • Just more than half (58 percent) of those surveyed say cloud collaboration has the potential to improve business processes such as purchasing, manufacturing, marketing, sales and technical support.
  • Almost 60 percent (59 percent) of executives said cloud collaboration stimulates innovation.
