ShoreTel is looking for a new CEO now that Peter Blackmore is retiring.

The business phone and UC provider said today in a brief statement that Blackmore, who has served as president and CEO since December 2010, plans to leave as soon as a successor is named.

“I am confident that the company is well-positioned in both the cloud and premise unified communications markets,” Blackmore said in a press release. “With recent changes to our organizational and cost structure, we can now scale with a model positioned for profitability, enhancing our objective of delivering improved shareholder value.”

Blackmore, who has worked for Unisys, HP and Compaq, did not give a reason for his departure.

As Channelnomics noted, the Blackmore announcement comes shortly after ShoreTel’s channel chief, Joe Vitalone, left to work at Mitel Networks, perhaps ShoreTel’s biggest rival. Vitalone had been with ShoreTel (again) for less than a year, tasked with helping ShoreTel revamp its channel program to better compete against other UC companies.
