Time Warner Cable‘s business division soon will have an executive vice president and COO.

Philip Meeks will join the company on June 3 to fill the new role. He will oversee all aspects of operations, sale and marketing for Time Warner Cable Business Services. Specifically, he will work to “further penetrate the small business opportunity in our footprint, expand our already robust suite of products, and continue to move us up market to serve larger customers,” said Rob Marcus, Time Warner Cable’s president and COO.

Meeks will report to Marcus, and lead a team of more than 6,000 people.

Meeks comes to Time Warner Cable from Cox Business, where he most recently served as senior vice president. Prior to Cox, Meeks co-founded and led a startup that bolstered the supply chain between technology vendors and VARs specializing in Internet security, data storage and VoIP. Meeks also has worked for MCI and AT&T.

Time Warner Cable’s business unit serves more than 570,000 customers, accounting for about $2 billion in annual revenue.
