NEC Corporation of America announced Wednesday that it has teamed with Desktone Inc. to deliver hosted virtual desktops, aka desktops as a service (DaaS), with availability scheduled for third quarter..
NEC will use the Desktone Platform to provide Windows desktops from the cloud to end-user tablets, smartphones, laptops and PCs on demand.
“By adding desktops to our private application cloud, we’re able to broaden our cloud portfolio and provide end-to-end automation and management of enterprise workspaces in a way that makes IT more efficient and affordable,” said Vinod Muthuswamy, NEC’s vice president of managed and cloud services.
NEC already offers cloud consulting and management as well as cloud solutions, including infrastructure-as-a-service, integration-as-a-service , unified communication-as-a-service and virtual private cloud services.
