Enterprise demand for cloud services is fueling the hosted VoIP and UC markets, according to new stats from Infonetics Research.
As a result, revenue for hosted VoIP and UC grew 17 percent in 2012 over the previous year. Managed IP PBX marked the largest segment, Infonetics said.
The increases come as "the market for VoIP services has moved well beyond the early adopter stage to mainstream status in many developed countries," said Diane Myers, principal analyst for VoIP, UC, and IMS at Infonetics Research. "New geographic regions are opening up, and SIP trunking and hosted UC continue to heat things up, fueling growth."
In all, the global VoIP services market, which does include business and residential, $63 billion in 2012, up 9 percent from 2011, Infonetics found. Meantime, SIP trunks jumped 83 percent in 2012 from the previous year, as multi-site businesses chose the technology for its cost savings and flexibility.
