DukeNet Names Network Architecture VP

Regional fiber provider DukeNet Communications has named David Herran as its new vice president of its network architecture and technology planning team.

Herran will serve as the chief strategist and architect for all ongoing technology development, implementation and training, as well as identification, evaluation and development of new network platforms. He joins an expanding team and will manage the following:

  • Ongoing development of DukeNets Carrier Ethernet, IP/MPLS and 100G coherent DWDM capabilities and product management
  • Identification and evaluation technologies including software defined networking (SDN), packet/optical convergence and cloud computing
  • Development of new network platforms, while defining service and network architecture standards
  • Technical training
  • Network expansion
  • Small cell product development efforts
  • Sales engineering 

Herran has worked for DukeNet since June 2011. DukeNet targets enterprises and organizations in the Southeast, through the channel.
