HD voice is coming to a mobile phone near you.
T-Mobile launched this new service in January and will also bring the technology to the iPhone 5, which the company will finally begin selling in a little more than a week.
AT&T’s senior vice president Kris Rinne says that the carrier will support the new technology later in the year as it begins to route voice calling over its LTE network, reported All Things Digital. HD voice requires support from both the network and the devices on each end of the call.
HD voice is part of our voice over LTE strategy,” Rinne said, speaking at the VentureBeat Mobile Summit in Sausalito, Calif.
Rinne also says that AT&T is working on advanced LTE, which will reduce interference and bond together traffic from various frequencies.
In addition to T-Mobile and AT&T, Sprint has said it is planning to support HD Voice in the coming months.
