Cbeyond Releases Certified Applications Servers

Cbeyond Inc. has made its new Certified Applications Servers (CAS) service generally available, for sale through the channel as well as the direct sales force.

CAS is designed for SMBs so they may securely access and run their most frequently used business-productivity applications from anywhere, on any device. Cbeyond said it developed the service in response to a survey of IT business leaders, who said they think applications will be critical to their companies in 2013.

To that point, CAS puts existing apps, and their associated data, in the cloud but makes them work as though they are on-premise. Data do not traverse the public Internet. In addition, Cbeyond can certify business productivity software, including proprietary programs, to meet customers’ individual needs, the company said. To certify an application, Cbeyonds engineers perform operational, load and impairment testing across a range of network technologies to ensure compatibility with various network access points.

So far, CAS supports these platforms:

  • Intuit QuickBooks (Pro, Premiere and Enterprise versions)
  • Sage ACT!
  • Sage Peachtree Accounting
  • Sage 50 Accounting
  • Abacus Law 2012
  • Amazing Charts 6.0
  • Microsoft Office

Cbeyond said it will add between six and 12 applications to that list each quarter. Cbeyond houses the CAS service in its data center.
