A new report shows huge growth in the global SMB mobile workforce by 2016.
By 2016, there will be a little more than 298 million SMB employees who will be mobile workers, and one quarter of those workers will be from the midmarket segment, Techaisle said. Almost 150 million of SMB employees will telecommute and over 120 million will travel on business. In addition to this growth, the number of cloud users will probably jump from less than 140 million in 2012 to more than 200 million in 2016.
The Asia Pacific Region (excluding Japan) will account for almost half of the global share with more than 147 million total SMB mobile employees, with China and India comprising more than 60 percent of the region due to business growth, new business formation and rise in mobile density. This rapid growth will shift the global share of SMB Mobile workers by 4 percent from other regions to Asia.
The increase of mobile workers also brings a number of concerns for SMBs, such as the cost of solutions that support mobile workers and security from theft and data privacy. Other concerns include mobile-data pricing, transaction security and mobile device pricing.
