Cisco this week said it has promoted Nick Adamo to lead the company’s Americas region.

Adamo fills the role left vacant by Chuck Robbins, who was hired as senior vice president of global sales last fall. As the new senior vice president, worldwide field operations, the Americas, Adamo reports to Robbins.

In an internal memo shared with Channel Partners, Robbins praised Adamo as “the obvious choice” because of his background in the enterprise and service provider fields. Adamo has worked in the tech sales space for 28 years.

He most recently served as senior vice president, global segments and architectures. There, he oversaw Cisco’s global product strategy for service providers.
