Brocade Taps Carney as New CEO

Networking solutions provider Brocade has appointed Lloyd Carney as its CEO, effective immediately. He will also serve on the company’s board of directors.

Carney succeeds Michael Klayko, who served as CEO for seven years before announcing his resignation in August.

The 50-year-old Carney has held senior leadership positions at various networking and semiconductor companies. Most recently, he was CEO and member of the board of directors at Xsigo Systems, a privately held company specializing in data-center virtualization. Previously, Carney was CEO of Micromuse, which specialized in network management software and later became an integral part of the IBM Tivoli framework.

“I believe Brocade is poised to leverage its heritage of strong innovation and significantly disrupt the status quo in the data-networking industry,” said Carney. “There are profound changes happening across high tech today and Brocade has a great opportunity to lead that transformation through differentiated products and customer focus.
