tw telecom inc. aims to reach more than 300 new business customers by expanding its fiber network to fast-growing parts of Kansas City.
The provider said on Monday it’s building into the areas north of the Missouri River and the Central Business District so it can target more health care, insurance, financial services, manufacturing and higher education buyers.
We have seen a dramatic increase in the demand from Kansas City businesses for fiber network services, particularly business Ethernet, to deliver more and more high-tech applications such as cloud computing, telepresence and collaboration,” said Tim Bagnieski, vice president and general manager for tw telecom in Kansas City.
tw telecom has served Kansas City since late 2006, when it bought Xspedius Communications.
In addition to targeting new end users, tw telecom’s move should help fuel employment.
“tw telecom is a strategic player in our effort for continued job growth in the region,” Greg Martinette, Clay County’s economic development director, said in a prepared statement.
tw telecom sells through channel partners including large master agents.
