A Wall Street analyst is predicting that Apple could sell as many as 10 million iPhones in the last week of September if a sixth-generation smartphone ships on Sept. 21 as media have speculated.
“We believe that if the 21st is the actual ship date, Apple could sell 6 million to 10 million iPhone 5s in the final week of September barring supply issues,” Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster wrote, as reported by AllThingsD.
Munster reportedly thinks Apple could sell between 26 million and 28 million units in the September quarter.
Apple is widely expected to announce the iPhone 5 on Sept. 12, although the company hasn’t confirmed that information.
Although Munster’s forecast might seem outlandish, Apple’s iPhone sales have been nothing short of mind-boggling. In the first three days after the release of its iPhone 4S, a whopping 4-plus million smartphones were sold.
