IP phone maker ShoreTel has dubbed M5 which now is ShoreTel’s New York-based cloud division as ShoreTel Sky. The move comes about six months after ShoreTel paid $146.3 million in cash and stock for M5. Dan Hoffman, who was head of M5 and now serves as president of ShoreTel Sky, said the rebranding gives the former M5 greater exposure.
“ShoreTel has a global brand and M5 is known and respected in a smaller circle,” he wrote in a blog this week. “Now that we are a combined company we wanted to create a recognizable brand consistent with the ShoreTel image.”
ShoreTel CEO Peter Blackmore said the company next plans to bridge hosted applications to on-premise customers.
