Zayo Group on Monday revealed completing its acquisition of FiberGate Inc., a Washington, D.C., metro area provider of dark fiber services to the federal government, larger enterprises and carrier customers.
The $117 million deal adds to Zayo’s network 399 route miles and 130,000 fiber miles in Washington, D.C., Northern Virginia, Baltimore and suburban Maryland.
Zayo said it plans to continue to offer FiberGate’s dark fiber and expand services to include bandwidth infrastructure offerings like wavelengths, Ethernet, IP and SONET.
Zayo, based in Louisville, Colo., has been on a buying spree over the last few years, with its biggest acquisition being the $2.3 billion purchase of AboveNet Inc. in early July.
