Windstream Corp. is beefing up its call center workforce.
The telecommunications company is interviewing for 100 positions for its call center in Matthews, N.C., spokesman Scott Morris said Friday in an email to Channel Partners.
“We need the additional employees to handle call volumes and ensure that all of our customers have good sales and care experiences,” Morris said.
Windstream will offer an average base salary of $30,000 to $35,000 plus commission and additional perks, according to Zacks Equity Research in a blog Thursday.
Earlier this week, the Little Rock, Ark.-based company revealed it will hold a job fair on Aug. 22 in Charlotte, N.C. In a job fair recruit flyer, the company listed an inside sales position that will offer starting base pay of between $11 and $14 per hour with a 3 percent increase after successfully completing training, plus an average commission payout of $800-$850 per month. A customer experience specialist position offers starting base pay of $12.55 per hour as well as an average commission payout of $400 per month.
“Positions are available in sales and customer service,” Windstream stated. “They include customer experience specialists, residential inside sales consultants, and small business account management representatives.”
Zacks Equity Research expressed concern that Windstream’s “increased hiring may further stress its existing highly leveraged balance sheet.” Windstream last year acquired Paetec Holding Corp. for $2.3 billion, adding to its debt load. The company listed total debt of $8.749 billion as of June 30.
Though it’s hiring, Windstream has made moves to cut its expenses.
The company anticipates completing restructuring this quarter under a previously announced plan to cut 375 to 400 management positions aimed at yielding annual savings of up to $40 million.
