Zayo Group, the fast-growing bandwidth infrastructure provider, on Thursday announced expanding its network in its backyard: the Front Range and greater Denver area.
Zayo, based in Louisville, Colo., explained making the network investment in support of a large customer project, though the communications company said it provides capacity that other customers can use.
“The fiber build will span the Front Range, encompassing the cities of Fort Collins, Greeley, Loveland, Longmont, Boulder, Colorado Springs, and the larger Denver metro area,” Zayo noted.
Zayo said the network expansion, coupled with its recent $2.3 billion acquisition AboveNet, Inc., will give it 900 miles of fiber network in the greater Denver area.
“The Front Range is a key area of future telecom growth and we expect there to be opportunities for future fiber network expansion,” said Matt Erickson, President of Zayo Fiber and Transport Infrastructure, in a statement.
