“Share Everything Plans”, new offerings from Verizon Wireless, debuted today in what could symbolize a significant change in how consumers pay for wireless voice and data packages.
If you are an existing Verizon Wireless customer with no interest in the new plans, don’t fret. The mobile-phone giant won’t automatically move customers to the new plans, Verizon Wireless spokeswoman Brenda Raney confirmed in an email Wednesday.
Customers who have subscribed to Verizon’s unlimited data plan also needn’t worry. Verizon retired the plans last year but allowed customers to remain on them.
“The only time a customer with an unlimited Data Plan needs to move off that plan is if he or she chooses to purchase a phone at the discounted price and in that case, the customer can select one of the existing Nationwide Usage Based Price Plans or choose a Share Everything Price Plan,” Raney said.
The new offerings include unlimited voice minutes, unlimited text, video and picture messaging plus a single data allotment for up to 10 Verizon Wireless devices. Customers pay a monthly line access fee per device ($40 for smartphones, $30 for basic phones, $20 for notebooks and $10 for tablets) plus a monthly fee for a certain amount of data starting at $50 for 1 GB.
Raney did not immediately respond Thursday when asked via email about initial interest in the Share Everything Plans.
