Sprint on Monday introduced new “Biz 360” solutions for small businesses, including a credit card reader for mobile devices.
Square Card Reader lets small businesses swipe American Express, Discover, MasterCard and Visa credit cards on iPhones and Android devices. The service includes a 2.75 percent swipe rate and doesn’t require a contract.
One other capability, FleetSafer Mobile, fosters safe and hands-free use of smartphones and tablet computers for employees who are driving on the job, Sprint said. Sprint charges $5.99 per month plus a one-time setup fee per device. FleetSafer Mobile has a Web portal tied to it, which enables a business to define and enforce safety policies and obtain information about employees’ driving habits.
In addition, Sprint has released new embedded devices; its embedded portfolio includes the 11.6-inch HD Lenovo IdeaPad and the ZTE Optik. The telecommunications company also has announced the HTC EVO 4G LTE handset and the Sierra Wireless 4G LTE Tri-Fi Hotspot.
Sprint Biz 360 was introduced last summer for small businesses.
“Demand continues to be strong for individual Sprint Biz 360 features and full-on bundles,” said Jaime Jones, Sprint’s senior vice president-consumer sales, “so we’re refreshing the portfolio with new offers and services to continue to make it appealing.”
