LinkedIn, the social network for business professionals, on Wednesday confirmed that passwords belonging to some members have been compromised.
"Members that have accounts associated with the compromised passwords will notice their LinkedIn account password is no longer valid," wrote Vicente Silveira of LinkedIn. "These members will also receive an email from LinkedIn with instructions on how to reset their passwords."
LinkedIn confirmed the security breach in the wake of reports that millions of passwords had been hacked.
Silveira said LinkedIn is continuing to investigate the matter. A security researcher with Cloudmark told Reuters it could take several days or up to a week for LinkedIn to identify the source.
