More than 12,000 cloud computing jobs were seen advertised online in April 2012, up 50 percent year over year, according to researchers at WANTED Analytics. What’s more, the jobs are not all technical roles.
Sure technical titles were in demand with ads for software engineers and developers, but other occupations in markets, sales, operations and analytics were also prevalent, according to the study.
The trajectory for cloud computing is steep, up 275 percent over April 2010.
The metropolitan areas with the highest volume of cloud computing job ads during April were San Jose; Washington, D.C.; San Francisco; Seattle; and New York.
According to WANTED Analytics Hiring Scale, some of these locations are more competitive. Seattle job posts are taking the longest to fill. In contrast, the best places to recruit cloud computing professionals are Poughkeepsie, N.Y.; Harrisburg, Pa.; and Sarasota, Fla.
