Fiber and bandwidth provider Lightower Fiber Networks has announced a new network expansion and an expansion of its existing colocation facility, both in Providence, Rhode Island.
The company says the network expansion increases Lightowers footprint in and around East Providence, with 21 miles of new fiber. Lightower also has doubled the size of its collocation facility at 235 Promenade (The Foundry) in Providence.
This network expansion extends Lightower’s reach and access throughout East Providence, Seekonk, and Pawtucket. The build also enables the fiber provider to offer an additional diverse route between Providence and all areas north and east of Providence, including Boston and Waltham, Massachusetts.
These two expansions in Providence demonstrate how enterprises and carriers throughout the Northeast have a continuing need for more and more fast bandwidth,” said Rob Shanahan, president and CEO of Lightower. The Lightower Network offers customers virtually limitless, low-latency bandwidth and we will continue to invest where we see this kind of demand. In addition, our expanded collocation facility in Providence offers customers more space to house their equipment while also connecting to the Lightower Network.”
