HP and F5 Networks are working together to cut down on the time enterprises need to deploy cloud applications.
HP and F5 each sell through VARs, systems integrators and others, and the recent announcement is significant for the indirect channel. That’s because the companies have integrated HP’s virtual application networks technology with F5’s application delivery network platform. The combination gets rid of manual configuration on both wired and wireless networks, allowing for applications deployment in minutes. Typically, this effort has taken weeks or months, said Bethany Mayer, senior vice president and general manager of networking at HP. But as cloud computing and mobility become the norm, speed is essential.
"IT needs to move at the speed of the organization, but legacy application, network and user configuration practices are barriers to achieving this necessary agility," Mayer said. The partnership with F5 means "clients will be able to virtualize and automate the entire configuration process from application to network to user based on policy-driven management."
