With a series of acquisitions behind it, Windstream Corp. is moving onto new goals.
Windstream Chief Executive Jeff Gardner said the telecom provider must focus on building profits and revenues, The Associated Press reported.
“It’s not just about revenue because revenue without earnings don’t really mean a lot,” Gardner was quoted as saying the same day the company announced a quarterly dividend payment of 25 cents per share on its common stock, to be paid on July 16.
The Arkansas-based company on Wednesday held its annual shareholders meeting and will report its first-quarter earnings tomorrow morning.
The company has been transforming into a more business-oriented communications provider thanks partly to its $2.3 billion acquisition of PAETEC Holding Corp. A Windstream executive said last month that the telco serves 80 percent of the Fortune 500 companies and more than 450,000 business customers.
