Westcon Group on Wednesday said it has signed a new North America distribution agreement with Fujitsu, expanding its data-center practice.
The company also has hired a new senior vice president to lead that growing part of its business.
Westcon resellers already offer Avaya, Brocade and Cisco products to businesses; but, as virtualization and cloud infrastructure demand increases, the company added Fujitsu servers and storage technologies to the mix. The contract includes the PRIMERGY server and ETERNUS storage product lines. Westcon is providing the service, integration, training and support to its partners, and soon will add Fujitsu to its hands-on training curricula.
Meantime, Westcon has hired Dan Papes to serve as senior vice president of its emerging technologies and data-center practice. Papes comes from IBM, where he worked as global vice president of worldwide cloud services sales. At Westcon, he will build the data center division.
