New EarthLink Deal Lets Partners Sell Cloud Desktop Service

EarthLink Inc. partners now can sell cloud desktop services to SMBs, thanks to a new agreement with independenceIT (iIT).

The addition is part of EarthLink’s Business IT services portfolio. The alliance means agents and VARs can enable customers to access all business applications and data from any device. EarthLink will roll out an additional desktop workspace service incorporating iITs platform as a complement to its managed virtualization, security, application and support services. Upgrades, maintenance, data security, backup and recovery functions all are managed automatically.

iIT provides sales and technical training on its products but does most of the heavy lifting. For example, the company shows partners how to properly get end users up and running, with its project management team offering help throughout the process. It also offers white-label sales materials. And while partners handle Tier 1 customer support, they don’t have to be masters at desktop virtualization, said Seth Bostock, executive vice president of business development and strategy.

“It’s really a prepackaged, end-to-end solution for them,” he said. “They do not have to know how to make the application work in a virtual environment.”

EarthLink will offer iIT’s Total Freedom Workspace and Instant Freedom Workspace.
