Hold the Phone! iPhone 5 Release for Fall, Not Summer

Apple might make it two years in a row for a fall iPhone release.

So says a so-called "reliable source" who says the Silicon Valley giant will release the iPhone 5 or iPhone 4G or whatever it will be called in September or October, according to Macotakara, a Japanese blog.

At first glance, this might seem to be just another bit of sketchy speculation about Apple’s iconic device, and it may well be. But this follows other news of a potential fall release. A representative of one of Apple’s parts suppliers recently told MacRumors that all signs point to a September release. And just last week, tech site iMore also cited a source who claims fall namely October is when we’ll see a revamped iPhone that is LTE-compatible, something almost guaranteed since a report earlier this month surfaced saying an LTE iPad will make its debut next month.

The Japanese report goes on to say that Apple will maintain a fall launch for future iPhone updates, rather than the summer debut we’ve been accustomed to seeing up until last year.

Of course, it was only a couple of weeks ago when the trending rumor was for a summer launch, with an introduction at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference in June. Other reports also suggested a summer debut was in the offing based on production schedules and a job fair that attracted hundreds of potential employees for work at one of the Chinese factories that manufactures iPhones.

Either way, don’t expect any official announcement from Apple until a couple of weeks before the device goes on sale, as is the company’s modus operandi.
