Virtual network operator Nitel announced Tuesday that Kevin Weber has joined the company as its new vice president of sales, responsible for the company’s direct, wholesale and indirect sales channels.
Weber fills the spot left vacant by Tim Basa, who left Nitel in November to join BullsEye Telecom.
Weber joins Nitel after serving for two-and-a-half years as vice president of sales and operations for Primus Telecommunications. While there he was initially charged with building out the carrier’s U.S. direct sales force and later its indirect sales channel. Previously, he was regional vice president of sales for Cbeyond. As part of the original executive team at Cbeyond, he built the sales team from the ground up, including developing the commission structure, a sales training program and initial product set. Earlier in his career, Weber held sales and management positions at Intermedia Communications and Allnet/Frontier Communications.

Founded in 1997, Nitel offers customers MPLS, Ethernet, private line and Internet services on more than 100 carrier networks.
