AT&T on Monday introduced a capability for business professionals who want to use their personal mobile devices like smartphones and tablet computers at home and work.
AT&T Toggle separates and protects business data on employees’ mobile devices, AT&T said, supporting a work mode that is distinguishable from the personal mode.
The Dallas-based telecommunications titan plans to unveil the application before the end of the year.
Our research shows that approximately 50 million employees in the U.S. alone could benefit from business mobile applications,” said John Stankey, President and CEO of AT&T Business Solutions, in a statement.
AT&T Toggle features a Web portal that allows IT administrators to manage business apps on employees personal devices, control employees access to company resources and erase corporate information stored in work mode if an employee leaves the organization or loses his device. AT&T said the app can be used with any service provider and on devices running Googles Android 2.2 operating system and higher.
Starting next year, AT&T noted it plans to introduce a number of services and features that free employees from the constraints of company-owned devices and turn personal handsets into tools for business productivity.”
