First Communications, which sells through agents, has lit its critical Washington, D.C.-to-Pittsburgh fiber route, and a smaller one in Pennsylvania that connects customers to larger markets.
The Akron, Ohio-based competitive service provider said on Monday it has opened its Chicago-to-Washington, D.C./Ashburn, Va., optical transport path, as well as another that runs among Harrisburg, Lancaster, Philadelphia and Reading, all in Pennsylvania. For channel partners, the news represents more opportunity to sell lit services along First Communications 5,400-mile fiber route network, which spans the Midwest and Mid-Atlantic, and offers connections to Toronto.
First Communications customers include other carriers, ISPs, financial services companies, government agencies, and small and medium enterprises.
