Toshiba America Information Systems Inc., Telecommunication Systems Division announced this week the addition of the IPedge EP, an IP business telephone system designed specifically for small businesses with up to 40 users per server. IPedge EP is now available from Authorized Toshiba Dealers nationwide.
The IPedge EP, is the latest addition to Toshibas IPedge family of all-IP business telephone systems, which it unveiled in June. It joins the IPedge EM, which supports up to 1,000 users per server, and the IPedge EC, which supports up to 200 users per server.
IPedge EP supports multiple UC applications on a single Linux server, including call processing, voice mail and unified messaging, native SIP line and SIP trunk support, mobility, survivability, networking with other IPedge or Strata CIX systems, and telephone endpoints. Add-on applications, including meet-me conferencing with Web collaboration, uMobility Fixed Mobile Convergence (FMC) and contact center solutions, are available with additional servers.
According to the company, the benefits of the Linux server include survivability within or across the network to support business continuity and a higher level of security.
Among the built-in features is Toshibas Call Manager application, which enables users to click on their laptop or tablet PCs to dial, answer and transfer calls. Call Manager include presence, chat, instant messaging and CRM integration with programs including SalesForce.com, Act!, and Microsoft Outlook.
Also standard is support for Toshibas wireless IP phones, enabling users to access the system within their wireless LAN coverage area. Similarly, the SoftIPT softphone client can be accessed over the wireless LAN or cellular network.
Users can manager their own telephones, including programming buttons and personalizing telephone functions using a browser.
Similarly, using the Web-based Enterprise Manager, administrators can manage trunks and stations when IPedge EP is deployed standalone or as a node on a larger system.
