SMBs worldwide will spend $11 billion on cloud computing in 2011, and continue pouring money into those services at a compound annual growth rate of 12 percent until 2015, according to new research from Techaisle.
The companys analysts said about 138 million SMB workers will use some form of cloud services by the end of this year alone. In just the United States, one in four SMB employees will make use of the cloud in 2011. For channel partners, those projections forecast unprecedented opportunity if youre willing to expand your understanding of the rapidly growing cloud space. (And the best place to do that? The cloud track at the upcoming Fall 2011 Channel Partners Conference & Expo.)
When it comes to the different kinds of cloud computing, infrastructure-as-a-service and platform-as-a-service are growing the quickest, at more than 26 percent, followed by business productivity at 24 percent, Techaisle found. The latter bodes well for Microsoft and its partners who serve SMBs, given that it just rolled out Office 365 platforms for SMBs, analysts noted.
