RIM also has teased its followers on Facebook with an apparent reference to the new devices: “Hey Team BlackBerry, what’s shiny, new and social all over? We want to tell you about it. Can you guess what it might be? Tune in tomorrow for details!”
But so far, the embattled BlackBerry maker hasnt released any official details at least on its press website.
Most speculation is that RIM will announce plans to launch seven new smartphones by the end of 2011, running on the new BlackBerry OS 7. A new BlackBerry Bold, one of the company’s most popular devices to date, is expected to be one of them.
RIM announced earlier this week that it’s cutting 2,000 jobs, or 10 percent of its workforce. The Canada-based giant has struggled in recent years to keep up with Apple’s iPhone and Android in the smartphone race.
