Apple on Thursday announced that more than 15 billion applications have been downloaded from its App Store by more than 200 million iPhone, iPad and iPod touch users around the world.

More than 425,000 applications, including more than 100,000 native iPad apps, are available in the App Store to consumers in 90 countries.

Apple said it has paid developers more than $2.5 billion to date in order to support its App Store.

In just three years, the revolutionary App Store has grown to become the most exciting and successful software marketplace the world has ever seen,” said Philip Schiller, Apples senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing.
