Polycom Inc. has signed its fifth licensing agreement with SPIRIT DSP to power the videoconferencing technology in its CX5000 Unified Conference Station, giving channel partners such as VARs and dealers yet another selling point.
The CX5000 system which is Polycoms branded version of the Microsoft RoundTable collaboration and conferencing device provides telepresence and doubles as an analog conference phone. It works with the Microsoft Live Meeting or Microsoft Office Communicator platforms. CX5000 further comes with five cameras and six microphones and, when used with Microsoft Office Communicator 2007, functions as a video-switched webcam.
However, Polycoms CX5000 doesnt limit users. Anyone with a PC can download the Live Meeting client and take part in the relevant conference.
SPIRIT develops IP voice and videoconferencing software that combines scalable audio and video capabilities. It includes an H.264 SVC video codec that addresses video packet loss and video quality improvements, including a network adaptation module that compensates for network jitter and packet loss.
Enterprise video might seem boring in comparison to other technology categories, but itas poised for explosive growa https://t.co/trNc5kUmlZ
