Channel Partners Seeks Agent Input on Cablecos

Channel Partners announced Tuesday that it’s seeking input from the channel community on the state and future of cableco telecommunications sales to businesses through indirect channels for an upcoming report, Cablecos & The Channel: State of The Market.”

The objective of the project, sponsored by Comcast Business Class and Time Warner Cable Business Class, is to ascertain channel partners interest in, adoption of and challenges with selling cableco telecommunications services to businesses. The results will be presented at the Fall 2011 Channel Partners Conference & Expo in conjunction with the Keynote Roundtable featuring channel leaders from the top cable companies. It also will be presented in a written report that will be available from the Channel Partners Resource Center.

In a survey Channel Partners and Gartner fielded in fall 2009, nearly half of partners (43 percent) said they were considering adding services from cable companies in the next 12 months.

The channels interest in cablecos as telecommunications suppliers is clear, but the prospect is not without its challenges,” said Khali Henderson, editor-in-chief of Channel Partners. Not all the cablecos have come to the channel with fully fledged programs. And, the ones that have say the learning curve for partners is frustrating for both parties. This study hopes to shed light on these issues and provide a framework for more successful partnerships moving forward.”

Channel Partners is asking agents and VARs that sell telecommunications services to answer the 20-question survey. No prior experience selling cableco services is required. All responses must be received by July 1. Respondents also have the opportunity to register for a drawing to win one of two $300 Apple gift cards courtesy of Time Warner Cable Business Class.
