Toshiba Unveils IPedge UC Solutions

Toshiba America Information Systems Inc., Telecommunication Systems Division announced Tuesday IPedge, a new Linux-based single-server UC solution, is available from Authorized Toshiba Dealers nationwide.

The pure IP system is in addition to Toshibas Strata CIX converged IP system, which allows users to combine IP and/or digital endpoints on a single system.  The products also are compatible and can be internetworked.

IPedge supports multiple UC applications, including call processing, voice mail and unified messaging and mobility, on a single server. Add-on applications, such as meet-me conferencing with Web collaboration, uMobility fixed mobile convergence (FMC) and call center solutions, are available with additional servers.  IPedge also includes native support for SIP trunks without the need for a gateway.

CRM integration provides screen pops with programs including, Act!, Microsoft Outlook and more.  Users can also send chat instant messages, broadcast chat messages to multiple users, and enable simultaneous chat sessions.

Because its based on open standards, Toshiba said the system is more affordable and easier to administrate and also will be compatible with other standards-based applications and end points.

Toshibas Strata CIX business telephony systems can be networked with IPedge systems. And, IPedge is compatible with virtually every type of IP endpoint available.  Users can choose from Toshiba IP desk and wall-mountable telephones, soft phone solutions for laptop computers, wireless IP telephones for use over the wireless LAN and/or a cellular service, add-on modules, attendant consoles, as well as third-party SIP telephones, door phones, and other SIP endpoints.  Toshiba digital telephones can be supported through a networked Strata CIX system, and analog telephones are even supported via available gateway solutions.
