Cox, Optimum Business, Verizon, Comcast and AT&T all have received top rankings in a recent study conducted by J.D. Power and Associates but cable operators dominated, for sure.
According to the marketing information services firms report, 2011 U.S. Major Provider Business Telecommunications StudyData Services,” the five service providers all scored well among core customers. Cable companies, however, appear to be ramping up their focus as competitive telecommunications providers, and gaining recognition as a result.
For the home-based business segment, Cox earned the highest score 632. Optimum Business, part of Cablevision, followed with 631 and Verizon scored 624. Cox was noted for its particular performance in terms of cost and reliability.
For the SMB sector, Optimum Business led the pack with a score of 681. The company did best in the areas of satisfaction, sales representatives, service cost, reliability, promotions and customer service, J.D. Power found. Cox came in second with a score of 656, while Comcast ranked third with 631.
Finally, in the large enterprise market, Verizon outdid its peers with a score of 698. AT&T placed second with a score of 653. J.D. Power did not name a third-place company.
J.D. Power based its findings on responses from 5,928 business users of telecom data services at home-based companies, SMBs and large enterprises.
