BT Conferencing on Tuesday introduced a video conferencing application for a variety of devices, including the iPhone and iPad.
The app, BT Engage Meeting Mobile, also is available on Android phones and tablet devices, said BT Conferencing, which has its U.S. headquarters in Quincy, Mass., and is a part of BT Group plc, the global telecommunications provider based in England.
BT Conferencing said the application allows the host to initiate a video conference call, add users, end a meeting and extend a meeting using a mobile device. A host also can perform other functions such as remotely monitor equipment to check on system performance and check trouble tickets.
The app is compatible with major video conferencing manufacturers including Cisco, LifeSize, Polycom and TANDBERG and works together with BT Engage Meeting Manager, a Web-based tool that features an intuitive conference wizard, meeting templates, custom directories, B2B scheduling, iCal integration and a suite of online reporting tools.
More and more organizations are using video conferencing to save money, increase productivity and reduce time spent on travel,” said Jeff Prestel, CEO of BT Conferencing. This mobile app is the first of its kind and provides our customers with scheduling and call control options, even when they are away from their desk.”
The application is free for download and can be found within iTunes or via the app store on a chosen device, according to BT Conferencing. For example, the app is available on Android Market here.
