Sidera Networks, formerly RCN Metro, said this week its Xtreme Network now comes with ultra low-latency switched Ethernet services.
Sidera sells through channel partners and many of those agents target financial services firms that need stable, fast bandwidth. Data centers, too, can take advantage of the Ethernet connectivity.
“Now, with the flexibility and scalability that switched Ethernet offers, customers needing less than a full gigabit of bandwidth can benefit from our ultra low-latency Xtreme Network and have a migration path to additional bandwidth when the need arises,” said Mike Sicoli, CEO of Sidera Networks, in a prepared statement.
Sidera launched its Xtreme Network in September 2009. Since then, more than 60 financial exchanges, brokers, hedge funds and other entities in that sector have signed up for the network. Sidera said switched Ethernet will make the companys network even more attractive to those users thanks to the SLA-guaranteed low latency.
