XO Communications is announcing Monday at the Channel Partners Conference & Expo the upcoming launch of its new cloud-based security solution. Available March 28, XO Enterprise Cloud Security is the second offer in its new cloud services suite launched last month.
XOs offer delivers network-security capabilities for enterprises without them having to purchase premise-based equipment. Instead, all of the applications are delivered through the XO network as a security-as-a-service offering, providing network-based firewall, intrusion detection and prevention, secure Web gateway for Web and content filtering, and secure remote access to corporate networks.
In addition, customers can manage their service through an online management portal that provides visibility across the network and the ability to secure new locations and make changes to security policies.
Mike Saffell, director of product management at XO, told Channel Partners the services work with IP VPN/MPLS networks that connect multilocation companies. It sits like a node on the VPN, he said, explaining that enables them to view all sites as one location. Importantly, all bandwidth is aggregated into one monthly fee .
XO has partnered with managed security provider StillSecure to deliver the service. StillSecure, which uses hardware from Fortinet Inc., provides the operation center . Saffell said the service is a joint offer, not a rebrand. The development partners have just completed beta testing with customers, he added.
Saffell said the average customer for the cloud security offer is six locations. Pricing varies based on the bandwidth, which ranges from 3MB to 1GB.
XO Enterprise cloud security is the second offer in the CLECs cloud suite. The first is XO Enterprise Cloud Communications, which integrates a range of IP telephony features, local and long-distance calling, HD voice and video, network services and IP phone sets in hosted, subscription-based service.
Additional services are planned, including managed backup later this month, managed server in late second quarter, a Microsoft bundle (SharePoint, Exchange and Live Meeting) in the second half of 2011 or early 2012. Contact-center integration with Enterprise Cloud Communications is planned for 2012.
All cloud services will be available for sell through the CLECs indirect sales channels under existing contracts and compensation models. Training will be conducted by local channel managers. XO channel managers will be on hand at the Channel Partners Conference & Expo to talk about the service with partners.
