Apple may further broaden the global appeal of its iPhone through a relationship with a colossal operator in the worlds largest mobile phone market.
Apple CEO Steve Jobs has expressed interest in developing a version of the iPhone for China Mobiles developing fourth-generation network, Bloomberg reported, citing China Mobile Communications Corp. Chairman Wang Jianzhou.
Jobs has expressed his interest in an LTE iPhone and is willing to start the development at an early date,” said Jianzhou.
The news agency reports that China Mobile the worlds largest operator based on subscribers received approval in December from Chinas Ministry of Industry and Information Technology to begin large-scale tests of its 4G TD-LTE network.
Commercialization of the technology could commence in China in the second half of 2012, Bloomberg said, citing a ministry statement earlier this year.
