ADTRAN Inc. said this week its NetVanta Unified Communications (UC) equipment can now be deployed in virtual environments through the use of VMware.
The capability lets partners agents, dealers and VARs and end-users deploy NetVanta UC in more ways. For example, resellers and service providers can offer hosted platforms based on NetVanta UC for recurring revenue. Thats because NetVanta UC integrates more tightly with a customers IT infrastructure than traditional hosted services. Meanwhile, enterprises with multiple locations can provide UC to their branches from a cloud-hosted NetVanta UC Server, while using ADTRAN IP PBXs or IP Business Gateways.
There are other advantages to such a strategy. Server consolidation makes better use of space because it cuts the number of physical servers, reducing rack space, hardware maintenance and energy costs, ADTRAN said.
Businesses are moving to the cloud at a rapid rate,” said Tim Saunders, vice president of product management for ADTRANs Enterprise Networks Division. The ability to utilize NetVanta UC in a virtualized environment will allow customers to adapt to an ever-changing business landscape and more efficiently use existing resources, improving productivity and profitability.”
