The Metro Ethernet Forum has named Verizon its Global Service Provider of the Year, an award given to a company that is innovative in developing and delivering carrier Ethernet services worldwide.

The company in 2010 announced the addition of Global Managed Ethernet to its Managed Services portfolio, enabling customers to combine the power of multiprotocol label switching (MPLS) and Ethernet in a fully managed, end-to-end global networking solution.

The annual MEF awards are judged by a panel of selected global and regional industry experts. The MEF also recognized Verizon for Best Marketing for its leadership in the development, marketing and delivery of carrier Ethernet services in the Asia-Pacific region.
