That means CenturyLink will sell the mobile operators equipment and service plans to residential and small business customers.
Qwest has had a similar deal with Verizon Wireless for a couple of years, so the CenturyLink-Verizon move ostensibly was to prep for the mergers completion. Like Qwest, CenturyLink does not own wireless networks so, to have a mobile play, it must resell another carriers services if it doesnt want to build its own infrastructure.
The companies did not disclose the agreements financial terms. Nonetheless, the contract means CenturyLink customers soon will be able to buy Verizon Wireless devices from smartphones to tablets and service. Theyll also be able to sign up for Verizon Wirelesss 4G LTE network if its available in their markets.
CenturyLink will announce later this spring when subscribers can start buying Verizon Wireless products and services.
