360networks, a facilities-based provider of wholesale communications services, on Tuesday announced the availability of its Layer 2 Ethernet service.
Seattle-based 360networks said the L2E service provides Layer 2 connectivity among carrier hotels, Internet exchanges and Ethernet exchanges and is designed to support ISPs, cloud infrastructure and storage providers, colocation providers, content providers, content distribution networks, VoIP service providers, wireless carriers, CLECs, cable companies and others.
Rick Coma, 360networks senior vice president, said the company designed the service to support the growth in IP traffic by enabling customers to scale bandwidth and access major data distribution points and other facilities where carrier networks interconnect.
L2E eliminates the complexity of building and managing a private network by providing a fully managed diverse protected transport solution,” Coma said.
