Verizon Communications Inc. has rolled out a broadband Internet service for small businesses that clocks in at three times the download speed previously available to FiOS customers.
Featuring speeds of up to 150/35mbps, Verizon FiOS Internet for Business is available in parts of 12 states and the District of Columbia.
The service is so fast, Verizon said, that a 250MB file, such as a CAT scan or 20-minute video, can be downloaded in 13.3 seconds, while a one-hour high-definition video of roughly 3GB can be uploaded in 6.2 minutes.
Verizon is selling the high-speed Internet service to small businesses in parts of California, Connecticut, Delaware, the District of Columbia, Florida, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Texas and Virginia.
The service also is available to some medium-sized businesses.
Excluding application fees and taxes, FiOS Internet for Business is available for $229.99 per month as a standalone product and does not require a term contract; if subscribers sign a two-year contract, the service is available for $204.99 per month, excluding fees and taxes.
Verizon also offers the high-speed Internet service in packages that include Internet, telephone and TV.
FiOS Internet for Business includes free Wi-Fi access, personalized domain name, Verizon Internet Security Suite and Verizon Online Backup and Sharing.
