Downtown Pittsburgh, Penn., will be the newest home for a Verizon call center which 200 new employees will call home.
This follows news from last month that Verizon Wireless might hire as many as 1,700 new employees to handle customer-service issues related to a new Verizon iPhone, a device which is yet to be confirmed by either the telco or Apple. This center, Verizon says, will be for agents to respond to questions about FiOS Internet and TV services.
Pay for these new jobs will range anywhere from $12 to $27, depending on experience and education. The center is expected to open in May.
“We thought this was a good place to put a center, where we can respond to our customers quickly, and the city will benefit from the success that fios has in Pennsylvania,” said Verizon spokesman Lee Gierczynskil, as reported by WPXI-TV.
